Duke of Edinburgh's Award for schools

Essex County Council holds the license to operate the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award in Essex.

The Duke of Edinburgh award is the world's leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 to 24-year-olds the opportunity to be the best they can be.

Support we can provide to your school includes:

  • allocating a designated Duke of Edinburgh area coordinator to support your school
  • meeting the school leader at least three times a year to monitor the DofE group
  • running induction training for all new DofE workers
  • sharing training materials to be used in the group
  • giving advice and support on how to run expeditions
  • providing certificates and badges for all participants who successfully complete their award
  • organising an annual Gold Award Presentation for all Gold achievers and their families
