National Young Carers in Schools Award
Our Essex Young Carers Service offers free support to schools through our dedicated Schools Development Coordinators, working across Essex to help schools identify and support young carers.
By meeting achievable benchmarks, schools can apply for the National Young Carers in Schools Award to gain recognition for their commitment to supporting young carers.
How We Support Schools:
Our coordinators provide:
- Guidance to identify and support young carers.
- Staff training to raise awareness of young carers’ needs.
- School assemblies to engage pupils and promote understanding.
- Step-by-step support to achieve Young Carers in Schools Award (YCiS) status.
- Help developing policies and procedures to safeguard and support young carers.
