What is Generation Acceleration Code?
We have partnered with UK Youth and Microsoft to deliver digitally inspiring workshops to young people aged 13 to 19. These workshops aim to empower young people to become digital creators, learn how computer science and technology affects our everyday lives and supports young people to design their own piece of technology. Through a range of digital music programmes and coding exercises we plan to inspire young people to become creators of technology not just consumers.
During the planning stage of this programme we surveyed young people, to establish what technology they already had in their local areas, from this information the young people decided what they’d like to see more of in the future. The two subjects that were recurring from these surveys were: Computers in Libraries and regular coding sessions.
Our next steps?
We are currently seeking 50 young people to get involved in the above programme and participate in our digital workshops; learning new skills, knowledge and supporting the digital growth in our society. After each session, we will ask for feedback to see how the session went and how much was learnt from it.
