TCHC Group
GAPS is a study programme that helps young people to take control of their future. It is ideal for those not in employment, education or training (NEET), as it offers the opportunity to improve and gain Maths and English qualifications and gives young people the chance to gain confidence, practical work skills and work experience. Based in Basildon they offer programmes in the following sectors:

  • Business Administration
  • Customer Service
  • Health & Social Care
  • Construction Multi-skills
  • Employability & Independent Living
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Nail and Beauty

Momentum Training - Falltricks Hairdressing Academy
Are offering a 9 month study programme in either Hairdressing or Barbering with the aim to convert into an apprenticeship around 12 weeks.

  • Level 1 in Hairdressing or Barbering
  • Opportunity to improve Maths and English if needed
  • Work placement up to 3 days a week
  • Training in the Romford Academy or salons in Chelmsford, Rayleigh, Brentwood, Billericay and Wickford
  • Funding available to help cover travel costs and lunch
  • Hairdressing or Barbering kit provided after 6 weeks

Prince Trust - Get Started in the NHS
Are you aged 16-30? Looking for a job in Health Care? Mid and South Essex Health & Care Academy are collaborating with the Prince's Trust to provide a supported route into employment for young people aged between 16 and 30 who live in the Mid and South Essex area.

Young people participating in the programme will receive personalised support relating to their healthcare career aspirations and can receive advice on the application process, interview tips and techniques and the opportunities available in healthcare in Mid and South Essex.

 

Support

Essex Youth Service Social Prescribers

Improving young people's health and wellbeing outcomes through youth work support and signposting based on the individual needs and priorities. Open to young people in Brentwood and Basildon aged 11 to 17 (see flyer for specific areas and criteria). 6 to 8 early intervention sessions offer support to engage with:

  • Positive activities
  • 1:1 work
  • Resilience building
  • Travel training
  • Working on coping strategies, and more!

NHS Talking Therapy
Vita Health Group deliver free talking therapies on behalf of the NHS in Basildon and Brentwood to people aged 16 years and over who can self-refer to the service. Read more and self-refer here or phone 01268 977171.

Discover progression routes onto HNCs/HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Degrees and Apprenticeship courses. Join us to explore your options within our own university and other higher education providers to make an informed decision about your future. Talks taking place throughout the evening:

Childcare and Early Years Careers Fair
The Childcare and Early Years Careers Fair is at the Basildon Advice Store. Meet employers, recruiters, and training providers, with opportunities in nursery, pre-school, before/after school clubs, and childminding. The current list of confirmed exhibitors, with more TBC, is:

  • ACL – Poppins Bursary and Early Years skills boot camps
  • Chapel Hill Nursery – new nursery in Langdon Hills with multiple vacancies
  • Essex Council early years and childcare team – information and recruitment for nursery and childminding roles; also advice on getting a childminder
  • Munchkins Nursery – 3 nurseries in Laindon with several vacancies
  • The Treehouse Club – Forestry Nursery and Preschools in Billericay, Wickford, and Brentwood with a variety of vacancies
